DTI-CEBU goes INFOTEXT!
Republic Act 8792, otherwise
known as the Electronic Commerce Act directed all government
agencies to transact government business and/or perform governmental
functions using and in the form of electronic data messages or electronic
documents. Specifically, Section 29 of the E-Commerce Act, authorizes
the Department of Trade and Industry to direct and supervise the
promotion and development of electronic commerce in government agencies.
In response to this heavy
task, DTI Cebu pioneered on this SMS messaging project.
Majority of businessmen
who secures licenses, permits and registration from DTI Cebu does
not have the luxury of time to do personal follow-ups at the DTI
Office, with their valuable time and efforts better applied in some
other productive business endeavors. Likewise, parties to cases
filed at DTI, either consumer complaints or EO 913 cases, would
be spending more money, time and efforts if they do personal follow-ups.
Nor can they make follow-ups
through the telephone. Due to budgetary constraints, DTI Cebu at
present, has only two telephone lines / numbers which caters to
incoming and outgoing calls. Using the telephone for follow-ups
can be frustrating sometimes given the sizeable number of DTI Cebu
clients.

of salt)
- FLOUR (which will give the price
of hard and soft flour
- CONSTMATS(which will give the price
of Cement,GI Sheet & Steel Bars

Clients need a more convenient and
faster way of securing information on the status of their applications
or filed cases.
Cellphones are now a common necessary
appendage to businessmen and consumers. Thus, the option of using
text messaging presented itself as a better alternative.
